Basketball X-Men improve to 4-0
The X-Men moved into sole possession of first place in the AUS men’s basketball standings with an 88-76 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers Saturday afternoon at the StFX Oland Centre.
\r\nThe X-Men improved their record to 4-0 and remain the only undefeated team to date this season. Tyler Richards and T-Bear Upshaw continued their consistent play for StFX with Richards scoring 26 points in the game and Upshaw tallying 23. Richards added 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists while Upshaw had 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
\r\nAlberto Rodriguez scored 17 points and had 9 rebounds for X and Terrance Taylor added 8 points for the X-Men who played a strong first half, establishing a 46-27 lead at half-time.
\r\nReplying for the Panthers was Nick Toews with 21 points and Andrew Black with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
\r\nThe two teams will play again next Saturday as the X-Men (4-0) travel to Charlottetown for their final regular season game prior to the holiday break against the fifth place Panthers (2-4).
\r\nStFX was scheduled to play the Saint Mary’s Huskies this past Sunday afternoon at home but the game was postponed due to inclement weather and will be rescheduled for a later date.
