Cape Breton University midfielder Grace Hannaford is the Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 1, 2024.

The Bachelor of Science student scored four points, including three goals, to help propel the Capers to pair of road victories to kick off the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women's soccer regular season.

On Aug. 30, in Fredericton, Hannaford tallied the lone marker in a 1-0 victory over the host UNB REDS. She added two goals and an assist for CBU in a convincing 6-0 win over the UPEI Panthers on Sept. 1 in Charlottetown.

Hannaford and her Caper teammates will begin their AUS home season this weekend with matches versus the Dalhousie Tigers (Sat., Sept. 7) and Acadia Axewomen (Sun., Sept. 8). Game time for both clashes is set for 1 p.m. at Ness Timmons Soccer Field.

STFX University midfielder Kyle Cordeiro is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 1, 2024.

Despite playing just one game this past weekend, the reigning AUS Most Valuable Player made the most of his time, scoring three goals and adding as assist in his team's season-opening 11-0 victory over Saint Mary's University.

Cordeiro's three goals all came within the opening 23 minutes of play. He would add an assist later in the first half.

The X-Men return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 8 when they host the Dalhousie Tigers in a 3:15 p.m. kickoff.
