BELL LET'S TALK

Since 2015, Atlantic University Sport (AUS) student-athletes (including our X-Men and X-Women) have been involved with Bell Let's Talk, focused on engaging Canadians to take action to create positive change in mental health. Each year during the last week of January there is a Bell Let's Talk Day.

This year, Bell Let's Talk Day is on Wednesday, January 24, 2024

Bell Let's Talk Canada is proud to start the new year by committing an additional $10 million for mental health programs ahead of #BellLetsTalk and invite everyone to join Canada’s national day for mental health on January 24! Share your actions using #BellLetsTalk and help inspire others to join the movement to create positive change.

Please visit the Bell Let's Talk website to discover how you can help take action. It starts with small actions from recognizing stressors, to being there for a loved one can help support mental health and strengthen our communities during this difficult time. On the website you will find helpful information and tips developed by the Canadian Psychological Association about how you can help yourself, your friends, and your family cope with stress and look after their mental health. 

StFX STUDENT-ATHLETE INVOLVEMENT

Each year during Bell Let's Talk week, our StFX student-athletes are encouraged to do their part to promote positve mental health and #endthestigma. With our Student-Athlete Advisory Council and our SAMHI Chapter (Student-Athlete Mental Health Initiative), we help plan events and activities for the broader campus community and for our own X-Men and X-Women student-athletes. There is typically a varsity game on the schedule with Bell Let's Talk promotions.

Come out and cheer on our X-Men and X-Women teams in AUS action Wednesday night! Fill out a Bell Let's Talk speech bubble at the game, pick up some Bell Let's Talk stickers and information and there will be chances to win Bell Let's Talk prizes throughout the game! Don't forget share your actions online using #BellLetsTalk and help inspire others to join the movement to create positive change.
