The StFX X-Men (7-3) are in first place, after extending their winning streak to five games, with a 96-80 victory over the visiting Cape Breton University Capers (0-9) Tuesday night in Atlantic University Sport basketball action at Oland Centre.

Daniel Passley scored 15 points off the bench to lead the StFX X-Men to an 84-69 win over the Acadia Axemen Thursday afternoon in the second quarter-final game of the Rod and Joan Memorial men’s basketball tournament, hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers.

The Capers gave a valiant effort Wednesday and it nearly paid off. They were tight with the X-Men most of the night until a stretch in the third quarter when StFX pulled away for a 102-91 win. The Capers fall to 0-7 with the loss, while the X-Men improve to 3-3.

The Memorial Sea-Hawks (3-1) earned a split on their weekend road trip to Oland Centre with a 93-79 victory over the StFX X-Men (2-2) Sunday afternoon in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) basketball action.

On the strength of a strong recruiting class and the return of its starting five players from last season, the StFX X-Men are shooting for a return to the AUS playoffs.
