Sackville, NB – The STFX X-Women easily handled the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday afternoon, coming home with a 5-0 shutout victory.
The White and Blue scored two goals in the opening half, thanks to Avril Jamieson and Ava Elgood.
Jamieson opened the scoring in the 8th minute, breaking in alone and beating the Mounties netminder.
Elgood made it a 2-0 STFX lead heading into half when she converted a Georgia Johnson pass in the 30th minute.
Johnson then assisted on Jamieson's second goal of the game in the 52nd minute on a nice passing play.
Forward Cara Therrien made it a 4-0 STFX lead at the 62 minute mark when she chased down a long ball from Lauren Adams.
Adams scored the final goal of the game in the 89th minute, heading in well-placed corner kick from Canning.
Canning received player of the game honors for her strong midfield play.
Hailey Jones earned the shutout win in the STFX net with two saves on the night.
The X-Women will be back in action on Sunday, September 28th when they travel to Moncton for a 1:00 pm game against the Aigles Bleues.
