SYDNEY, NS - The STFX X-Women and CBU Capers played a hard fought game Friday night in AUS women's soccer action that ended in a 1-1 tie at Ness Timmons Field.
The first half saw both teams struggling to finish their plays with each team only having one shot on goal each. They headed to the locker room scoreless.
Both teams seemed more focused at the start of the second half. Makenna Bowser was the first to put a point on the board for the Capers, with an assist coming from Makenna Acevedo at the 55 minute mark.
Twelve minutes later, the X-Women retaliated with an unassisted goal by Bryn Canning off a free kick to bring the score to 1-1.
The Capers put seven shots on net in the second half but could only get one past STFX keeper Sarah Bach. Capers keeper Ellie Lancaster stopped three of four shots by the X-Women.
The Player of the Game for STFX was Rylin Matheson and for CBU was Makenna Bowser.
The X-Women are back in action on home turf on Sunday, October 5th when they host Acadia in a 1:00 pm Homecoming contest.
