X-Men take top spot at Moncton Classic
The STFX X-Men claimed top spot at the Moncton Cross Country Classic Saturday in the 8k race held on the campus of the Universite de Moncton.
Moncton, NB – The STFX X-Men claimed top spot at the Moncton Cross Country Classic Saturday in the 8k race held on the campus of the Universite de Moncton.
The Blue and White had six runners place in the top ten, including Liam McCullagh who finished with a time of 25:39, very close to second place finisher William Pidduck of Memorial who crossed the finish line at 25:36.
Dalhousie's Jacob Benoit won the race with a time of 24:50, as he pulled away from Pidduck on the last lap after racing the first three together.
STFX's Joel Gallant was fourth overall at 25:49, and he was followed by teammates Griffin Gamble (25:50), Luke MacDonald (25:58) and Brett King (26:01) in fifth, sixth and seventh. Conlan MacKenzie (26:17) rounded out the top ten finishes for the X-Men in ninth position amongst the field of 50 racers.
The X-Men garnered 25 points for the victory, followed by Dalhousie with 42 and Memorial with 70.

The race marked the final one of the regular season prior to the AUS Championship, scheduled for Saturday, October 26th in St. John's, Nfld.
